Hello! My name is Farah Mohamed and I'm a 20-year-old majoring in cybersecurity Currently, I'm gearing up to attend The George Washington University in the fall of 2024 to further hone my skills and knowledge in the field. During high school, I attended Burao Academy of Science and Technology, where my interest in technology first sparked. I am also very passionate about Gender equality in STEM fields and seek to provide tools to help bridge this gap.
Abdusamed Artan has been in the energy sector for over 10 years and currently serves as a consultant for some of the largest North American Oil & Gas and Energy Operators on strategy, project management and execution.
Abdusamed was a Part-time Lecturer at the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at University of Nairobi and has been a member and contributor to SLPA since its founding. He holds MSc in Energy Economics from Rice University in Houston, Texas and BSc in Petroleum Engineering from Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio. Abdisamad is a byproduct of SLPA’s mentorship program.
Yahia Liban is a rising senior attending the University of Southern California, from Los Angeles. This summer, he is interning at City National Bank. An active community member, Yahia has worked with local governments in South LA on economic development initiatives. In his free time, he enjoys playing basketball, reading, and hanging out with friends. I am a byproduct of SLPA’s mentorship Program.
Born and raised in Hargeisa, Somaliland, Shukri earned her BA from Wellesley College in Massachusetts as a Mastercard Foundation Scholar, majoring in economics and environmental studies. Transitioning into the financial sector, she now serves as a Financial Associate at BlackRock in NYC. With a deep appreciation for the impact of mentorship, Shukri passionately advocates for its significance, highlighting how mentors have been instrumental in navigating the complexities of academia and the professional world. On weekends, she volunteers with Minds Matter NYC as a Mentor, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting high-achieving high school students from low-income families in New York City.
